How to Freeze Cabbage

  • Wash and clean the cabbage and cut into pieces. Do not cut out the heart or core, or your leaves will fall apart during blanching.  
  • Blanch cabbage in boiling water for 3 minutes.   
  • Plunge into cold water to stop the cooking.
  • Once cooled, drain in colander, draining off as much water as possible.  
  • Pack drained and cooled cabbage into meal sized portions in freezer bags (1 or 2 lbs per bag).   

**Frozen cabbage will keep in your freezer for a couple of years before losing its flavor.
